Travel against FCDO travel advice

With travel insurance against FCDO advice, if you feel safe to go on your trip, you’ll be pleased to know we have cover for just that. So, even while the FCDO advises against all but essential travel to some of our most-loved destinations, you can still travel should you need to.

So you can travel with confidence knowing that if something does go wrong, we’ll always aim to put it right.

Please keep in mind that government travel bans are different from FCDO advice, so we can’t cover if you travel against government restrictions.

To make it easier for you to get travelling again, we’ve teamed up with Randox Health to give you 10% off PCR tests when you buy a new travel insurance policy with us.

Before you travel

It’s hard to keep up with the ever-changing travel news at the moment. To make it easier for you to stay up to date, here’s what you need to look out for:

  • FCDO advice for the country you’re travelling to
  • Entry requirements for your destination
  • The traffic light system’s red, amber, and green lists for what you need to do when you come home

From 19 July, fully vaccinated travellers don’t have to quarantine when they return to the UK from amber list destinations. Other countries may also have different rules if you’ve had both your jabs, so keep an eye out for those if they apply to you.

Flexibility to change details online

When you buy a policy from us, you can manage it yourself by logging in to your My Avanti account. Here you can:

  • access policy documents
  • update traveller details
  • change your single trip dates (limits apply)
  • renew an annual policy if you have no changes to make
  • and more.

Am I covered for COVID-19 with the European FCDO Travel Advice Extension?

The level of Covid cover depends on when you took out a policy with us. If you are an existing customer, please take a look at your policy document for full details of cover.

New policies from 29 April 2021:

Adding our European Travel Advice Extension to your policy can give you cover for Covid, even when travelling against FCDO advice.

Take out a new policy with us and you’ll be covered if you fall ill with Covid when on holiday, just as long as you’ve had the recommended Covid vaccinations.

Policies bought before 29 April 2021:

If you took out a policy with our European Travel Advice Extension add-on before 29 April 2021, you will still be covered up to your policy limits, just as long as your claim isn’t related to Covid when abroad, or any other reason that caused the FCDO to change their travel advice.

What countries are covered with the European FCDO Travel Advice Extension?

With the extra European FCDO Travel Advice Extension, your policy can cover you for trips in Europe as well as Morocco, Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia.
