Travel safely to the USA knowing you’re protected by your travel insurance

When you’re travelling to the USA, it’s important that you’re covered by travel insurance so you have our support if something unexpected crops up.

Before you travel

It’s hard to keep up with the ever-changing travel news at the moment. To make it easier for you to stay up to date, here’s what you need to look out for:

  • FCDO advice for the country you’re travelling to
  • Entry requirements for your destination
  • The traffic light system’s red, amber, and green lists for what you need to do when you come home

From 19 July, fully vaccinated travellers don’t have to quarantine when they return to the UK from amber list destinations. Other countries may also have different rules if you’ve had both your jabs, so keep an eye out for those if they apply to you

Why having travel insurance for the USA is important

John1 had never needed to claim on his travel insurance before, but when on holiday in the USA, he tripped and injured himself.

After confirming he had travel insurance, he was immediately treated and taken for scans. He called our 24/7 medical emergency helpline and we got straight to work.

He didn’t need to worry about paying the hospital anything, because we handled the hospital fees direct. That meant John could relax and concentrate on the most important thing – getting better.

If a hospital bill exceeds £350, we’ll take care of it directly with the medical centre whenever possible, so you’re protected, just like John.

Why do I need travel insurance for USA?

Travel insurance for the USA is really important.

The cost of medical treatment in America is among the highest in the world.

We want you to enjoy your holiday with peace of mind, knowing you are protected in case of any mishaps. It’s vital to make sure you’re covered for potential medical expenses before you go.

Your USA travel insurance will cover you for cancellations and cutting your trip short due to a medical emergency, as well as lost passports and luggage.

If your holiday plans involve any exciting sports or activities, such as snorkelling or scuba diving, then you’ll be pleased to know that over 80 activities are included in our policies as standard.

Do I need to tell you about pre-existing health conditions when buying travel insurance for the USA?

Yes, it’s essential that you let us know about your health conditions and how they affect your day-to-day life. With healthcare costs being so high in the USA, we want you to travel knowing you have our support if you need us.

As specialists in travel insurance for health conditions, we understand that your health is personal and at times can be a sensitive subject. There’s no need to worry. We’ll just ask you a few questions to get to know you and your medical history, so we can find the right policy for your needs.

If you forget to tell us about any health conditions, this may affect the validity of your policy should you need to claim further down the line.
