Cervinia in ItalyWhat to Expect From Italy’s Best Ski Resort

Have you been following our Where’s Peter competition? If so find out more about his location and why it is so popular…

If you’re a keen skier, then there’s no better place to head to than Italy – in particular, Breuil-Cervinia. This resort is a favourite for tourists all over the world thanks to its long runs and consistent, year-round snowfall. You can have a great time, both on and off of the slopes – the locals really know how to live life to the full. So why is it loved so much?

A Renowned Yet Intimate Destination

Breuil-Cervinia lies on the Italian-Swiss border, and is covered in a beautiful blanket of snow pretty much all year round. The chilly temperatures keep the slopes in great condition, and attracts skiers not just from all over Europe, but all over the world. It’s not just the snow that’s the main attraction though – it’s the way of life. This pretty little resort has maintained its tight-knit community feel. So as well as visiting one of the world’s best ski resorts, you get a traditional mountain village experience too.

Taking To The Slopes

While the majority of the slopes in the area are suited to intermediate skiers, it has something to offer beginners too – with plenty of gentle pistes for those who want to build up their skill level at a gentle pace.

Valtournenche is home to huge open pistes with incredible vertical drops, while just over the border, Zermatt is a haven for the expert skier. With slopes to suit everybody, it doesn’t matter if some of your party have never skied before while others are well practised – you’ll all have somewhere to don your skis and have a go. After you’ve tackled the slopes, you can all indulge in whatever après-ski activities take your fancy!

When You’re Not Skiing

As well as skiing, you can take advantage of everything else that this wonderful region has to offer. That warm, welcoming village is home to many shops and restaurants. Chalet Etoile, Ulla and The Bar at Principe delle Nevi all serve fantastic food, and make for a nice place to stop out of the cold for a couple of hours. There are some great hotels in the area too.

If you want to holiday in style, then the White Angel Resort is the place to do it. The views from the bar and restaurant are some of the best. It’s also got some incredible leisure facilities such as the wellness centre and pool – perfect for relaxing in after a hard day’s skiing!

Whether you are hitting the slopes or going on a more relaxing holiday don’t forget to organise you travel insurance. Giving you peace of mind so that you can enjoy your holiday wherever the location.
