What’s On and Where to Stay
The Super Bowl is an event like no other, drawing audiences from all over the globe. If you’re planning to watch it live, here’s what you need to know.
It’s widely regarded as the biggest sporting event on the planet, and as the Super Bowl approaches its fiftieth birthday, this year’s event looks to be more spectacular than ever. The first Super Bowl to be held in San Francisco since the Super Bowl XIX in January 1985, it’s set to both honour the game’s history and be exciting and fresh. If you’re travelling to the big game, what should you look out for while you’re there?
The Half Time Show
The Super Bowl is almost as famous for its half time show as it is for the game itself. While the teams participating in this year’s Super Bowl haven’t been confirmed just yet, the acts performing during the interval have. This year, the half time show will be headlined by Coldplay, as well as a number of other acts yet to be announced. If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, we don’t know what is!
Events In The Area
It’s not just the half time performance that visitors can look forward to. Over a million people are expected to take part in an array of public events held in San Francisco over the course of a week. Super Bowl City has been built to commemorate the Super Bowl 50 and to demonstrate how important it is to the Bay Area of the city.
Open to the public from 30th January to 7th February in the heart of San Francisco, the Super Bowl City will entertain fans of all ages, from children to great-grandparents. The NFL Experience, a theme park, will be located at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. It’s sure to recreate all the excitement of a Super Bowl game. Last but not least, the Media Centre will be the base of the press, and is a great place to spot your favourite broadcasters, NFL legends and celebrities covering the game.
Where To Stay
If you’re looking for somewhere to stay during your visit, then we recommend the Hilton Santa Clara. With modern, spacious rooms and a wide array of facilities, it’d be the perfect base for you and your family during your stay. There’s also a beautiful outdoor pool to take a dip in – ideal for relaxing post-game!
Like with any other trip, it’s important to take out some cover for your time in the US.
