Best Beach Holidays for 2016

Crete, GreeceSeeking Sun, Sea and Sand? Read On!

If you’re looking to totally unwind during your next trip abroad, why not head to one of our favourite beach resorts?

There’s no better way to recharge your batteries than by laying on a beach and soaking up the sun. With the weather looking decidedly miserable, it’s no wonder so many people have started to plan their next beach holiday. If you’re one of them, then you’re probably wondering where you should head to in 2016. We’ve picked three beach getaways that are certain to please even the most experienced traveller.

There’s plenty to be said for the benefits of a beach holiday. Some sunshine is a guaranteed mood-booster; perfect for those who feel a little down in the winter months. For older travellers in particular, a break is a great way to reaffirm your independence and boost your confidence. After all, why should it only be the youngsters that get to have fun and come home with a tan?

Porquerolles in France

The little French island of Porquerolles is a world away from the country’s bustling resorts. Here you’ll find lush forests, stunning cliff top views and beautiful sandy beaches. Head to Notre Dame for scenery like you’ve never come across before. As the island is relatively unspoilt, it’s great for those who want a relaxed, slower-paced trip. As far as hotels go, we recommend the Villa Sainte-Anne, which is right at the heart of the island’s picturesque, traditional village port.

Crete is arguably the most famous of Greece’s islands, and for good reason too! It’s got a rich history and of course, some of the best beaches in the Med. We can’t get enough of Paleochora, one of the island’s hidden gems. This little village is full of family-run hotels, traditional tavernas and even an open air cinema! The main beach, Pachia Ammos, is half a mile of beautiful golden sand. It even has a naturist area towards the end if you’re feeling brave! The Libyan Princess hotel is situated in an olive grove just three minutes from the beach.

Last but not least is the Italian region of Puglia. Here you’ll find some of the prettiest coastal towns in mainland Italy – all of which are home to stunning beaches. Our favourite is the memorably named Punta Prosciutto (or Ham Point in English!). With white sandy beaches and a really chilled-out atmosphere, it’s the ideal place to leave all of your worries behind. Barely three miles away is the chic, modern La Spiaggia Hotel. One of the best ways to spend a morning is to eat your breakfast on the balcony, looking out over the ocean.

Finding the right travel insurance can be a tricky process – particularly if you’re a more mature traveller. Luckily for you, we don’t believe that age should be a barrier to being protected and able to enjoy your trip. Our cover for travellers over 80 doesn’t exclude medical conditions – we fully consider each customer’s individual circumstances and needs. So you can travel safe in the knowledge that you’re going to be looked after if you need it.

Bon Voyage!

So there you have it – the best coastal holidays for the year ahead. Whether you decide to head to France, Italy or Greece, you’re going to have a fantastic time soaking up some rays on the beach. Just remember to pack a towel and some sunscreen and you’re all set for the trip of your dreams! Oh, and don’t forget to send us a postcard!
