1st July Is Canada Day – Book Your Canadian Adventure
What Makes Canada Such a Great Travel Destination?
A hugely diverse country, Canada offers travellers so much, from incredible unspoilt scenery to bustling cities.
Canada is one of the world’s best travel destinations, but it’s sometimes overshadowed by the neighbouring USA. There’s no reason why though – Canada has so much to offer tourists. On July 1st, the nation comes together to celebrate all that’s great about their country. Canada Day is one of the biggest holidays of the year. So why is it celebrated – and why should you head to Canada this summer?
What is Canada Day?
Canada Day is the annual celebration of the signing of the Constitution Act. This unified three colonies into the nation we now know as Canada – and it’s since this date 149 years ago that the country has become one of the world leaders in business, tourism and quality of life. The capital city of Ottawa hosts public celebrations, and the 1st of July usually sees businesses close so that everyone can join in on the fun.
So why should you visit? Firstly, Canada is home to some of the most stunning natural landscapes in the world. The Niagara Falls have to be one of the most famous sights known to man, and seeing them in real life is nothing less than awe-inspiring.
Travelling the length of the Cabot Trail is an incredible experience too, whether you do so by car or on foot. Last but not least is Haida Gwaii, a group of islands rich with flora and fauna and the Haida culture. With so much to offer explorers, Canada is the perfect place to set up camp and reconnect with the great outdoors.
It’s not just great scenery that makes Canada so great though, as you’ll find some of the world’s most vibrant cities here too. Vancouver has an incredible nightlife, and as well as that is home to some unique destinations.
Take the Letter Writing Club for example – entry is free and you get to write anything you like on vintage typewriters while drinking tea and eating delicious cookies. In the capital city of Ottawa, you can see where Canada’s laws are made and bask in the splendour of the magnificent architecture.
In Toronto, head to Kensington Market for some incredible street food and some unique purchases – and don’t forget to squeeze in a trip to the Zoo too. Other cities such as Montreal, Quebec and Calgary have plenty to offer too.
