TripAdvisor release survey of most expensive cities
The Vitenamese city of Hanoi has been named as the cheapest destination in the world for a city break, which is interesting news for those looking to make great savings while on holiday.
It comes after TripAdvisor released their annual TripIndex Cities survey, showing that visitors to the city can enjoy a stay in a four-star hotel, have two two-mile taxi journeys and a meal for two with wine and cocktails for just £92!
The city finished ahead of the Indonesian capital of Jakarta and the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh, who finished in second and third place with a total cost of £95 and £96 respectively.
News which is sure to interest those on the hunt for budget breaks, the great value for money which the city offers means that people have plenty of funds left over to pay for single trip travel insurance and other essentials.
Other areas which favoured well in the survey included Jakarta, which offered the cheapest taxi journey at just £1.74 and Cancun offered the cheapest cocktails, at just £2 for two.
London comes out on top
The survey also revealed that London was the most expensive destination for a city break, with the same package costing a staggering £312. Among the most expensive aspects of a trip to the British capital was the taxi journey, with the charge of £34 meaning that London rose six places from last year.
Close behind London were the cities of Paris, New York and Stockholm, recording overall figures of £306, £300 and £287 respectively.
It shows that cities in Asia are clearly offering the best value for money, while European cities continue to stand among the most expensive. These are all details which are likely to be used to great effect by the consumer, combining with cheap deals on medical travel insurance packages to provide great value city breaks.
