Secret Ski Resorts You Have Never Heard Of

Secret Skiing locations5 Secret European Ski Destinations Waiting To Be Explored

Everyone knows that Europe has some magnificent ski resorts dotted around the continent, but there are one or two that may have escaped your attention.

Everyone knows that Europe has some of the best resorts of anywhere in the world. From the French runs of Chamonix and Morzine to the Austrian giant Saalbach or the swish Swiss St Moritz, Europe has plenty to offer those who like to indulge in a little bit of snowbound action across the winter months.

There are, however, one or two resorts that have managed to stay off of many skiers and snow boarder’s radar – until now! Here we bring you a selection of some of the finest places to get your winter kicks in Europe. Let’s dive straight in.

Valloire, France

If you’ve ever driven down to the more popular Three Valleys resort you would have passed one of the most overlooked places to ski in Europe, Valloire. This charmingly rustic French village has everything you need and an extensive ski area that would rival many of the bigger resorts across this fabulous country. Those with a higher level of skiing experience may find the on-piste terrain a little on the tame side, but the off-piste areas will give anyone a challenging and rewarding thrill.

Soldeu, Andorra

Situated close to the Grandvalira ski area, Soldeu has a little something for everyone. Experts will find plenty of challenging runs here, while those just starting out on their skiing adventures can take things easy on some of the gentler runs. The level of instruction here is particularly excellent, making it the perfect choice for those with families who wish to learn more about life on the slopes.

Beaufort, France

This quiet resort based in the wonderful town of Haute-Savoie is the perfect place for those who wish to do some serious skiing without all of the usual resort distraction that will be found elsewhere. The area caters well for budget travellers as much as it does those at the higher end, so don’t be put off if you are looking to ski on a shoestring. Remarkably, however, many of the stunningly beautiful run remain empty here.

Jasna, Slovakia

Jasna is another resort that is wonderful for those who are looking to get away for some winter sport action without breaking the bank. Flights are cheap and you can pick up a first class train ticket straight from Bratislava Airport for next to nothing. Once you get there you’ll see why the locals want to keep it a secret. The stunning runs and the ridiculously cheap prices are not something they are too quick to shout about for fear of being swamped.

Puy-St-Vincent

Located close to the Ecrins National Park, Puy Saint Vincent is the ideal getaway resort for those who wish to enjoy their skiing away from the crowds. Surrounded by high peaks, the ski area is perfectly sheltered from the wind, making traversing the slopes an altogether more pleasurable experience than many other resorts close by.

So, why not book your ski holiday insurance and head for the lesser known slopes next time you want to have some fun on the runs – it’s only a matter of time before everyone else cottons on. Terms and conditions apply.
