One in seven experience problems on their holidays
A leading consumer expert has unveiled that millions of people have experienced some sort of problem during their holidays over the last two years, highlighting clearly the need to purchase adequate single trip travel insurance cover.
An expert in helping people enjoy their holidays to the maximum, Which? recently carried out a survey to ascertain the amount of people who experience problems on their holidays. It revealed that one in seven people have encountered some sort of issue during their trips abroad, the equivalent to 6.2 million people when the overall population is taken into account.
The survey also highlighted the top five reasons behind complaints, with the most popular being delayed or cancelled flights, which took 30 per cent of the vote. Following closely behind was the long wait to reclaim baggage, with 25 per cent of those asked understanding this frustration. Despite the many problems that could potentially go wrong, just half said they knew the rights available to them on these issues.
Which? launches holiday help campaign
The alarming figure has led to the organisation launching the campaign ‘Stop the Holiday Hassles’, helping consumers to rectify getaway problems while also highlighting poor practices from holiday providers.
Richard Lloyd, executive director of Which?, said: “People don’t deserve to come back from holiday as stressed out as when they left. This summer, we’re asking travellers to share their getaway gripes so we can expose the dodgy deals and shoddy service to stop the holiday hassles.’
If you are looking to jet off on a holiday, whether in the coming days or perhaps later in the year, make sure you take out the correct over 80s travel insurance package to ensure you are financially protected against any unforeseen circumstances that may occur during your trips.
