Holiday Price Wars Expected In 2016

Empty deckchairsTour Operators Battle It Out With An Early Price War In 2016

The post-Christmas period is vital for the major tour operators, and they’re all locking horns in a battle to win our custom this year.

With the New Year well and truly underway, many of the biggest travel operators are beginning to offer some amazing deals that look set to end in one of the fiercest price wars we’ve seen in recent times. Discounts of up to £800 are available through some firms and the bargains look set to continue as the giants collide in an attempt to wrestle our money from our wallets and purses.

Many of these huge travel operators, such as Thomson and Thomas Cook, have been hit hard by the recent terror attacks that have happened in places such as Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey and Paris. British families are becoming more cautious about where they choose to go for their annual break, and the major tour operators are battling it out in order to secure the lions share of the ever lucrative post-Christmas bookings with ludicrous sales.

Breaking From Tradition

With the standard holiday destinations being hit by terrorist atrocities over the last twelve months, the holiday giants are now offering deals on alternative locations to drum up business. Long-haul holidays are being promoted heavily this year, and places such as Sri Lanka, Dominican Republic, Cuba and Mexico are sure to receive increased interest from British holidaymakers thanks to the strength of the pound.

It Doesn’t Stop At Discounts

Even though the thought of hefty discounts will be what causes the biggest stir in this potential price war, tour operators are using other tactics too. Companies like First Choice are also giving away thousands of free places for kids and accepting bookings with drastically reduced deposits. These perks will undoubtedly be welcomed by parents who are still reeling from the expense of Christmas.

Biggest Savings

Some of the better deals available offer luxury holidays without the five-star price tag. Thomson have a ‘Sunshine Super Saver’ offer running on their Thomson Sensatori holiday to Mexico that is currently giving early bookers the opportunity to save £860 per couple, which means you can enjoy 14 nights of five-star luxury for £2,934 in May this year.

Their Sensimar holiday to the Dominican Republic is also certain to get travellers reaching for their credit cards this winter, thanks to the £672 saving that each couple can make on an all-inclusive holiday with the tour operator. Total price is currently being offered at £2,854 for a four-star getaway next August.

Not to be outdone, Thomas Cook are promising huge savings of anywhere up to £400 per booking on many of their holidays as well as children travelling for £1 and numerous vacations on offer for less than £400 per person. Some of the deals are truly incredible, such as the seven-night stay at an all-inclusive resort in Mallorca for couples that will only set them back £798, a saving of £400.

Families, too, can enjoy a trip to the Balearic Island with Thomas Cook. The travel giant is offering two adults and a child a seven-night break in May for £979 – that’s £489 each plus £1 for the little one!

With deals like this on offer its little wonder that this year’s competition for our custom is heating up. So why not grab your worldwide travel cover and take a holiday of a lifetime in 2016? After all, deals like this don’t happen every year.
