Golfers heap praise onto Spanish club
Southern Spain is an immensely popular spot for golfers, with its superb summertime weather and Mediterranean atmosphere proving an irresistible draw for lovers of the sport. The many resorts and clubs provide a vibrant and exciting scene, and none more so than La Manga Club in Murcia.
At least, this is what UK golfers seem to think, with a recent poll from magazine Today’s Golfer placing the five-star venue at the very top with nearly 50 per cent of the vote – well ahead of its closest rivals.
Particular recognition was shown to La Manga’s 18-hole championship golf courses – of which there are three – as well as the array of amenities that include numerous bars and restaurants that visitors can take advantage of when they’re not out on the green.
Gary Silcock, La Manga Club’s director of golf, was understandably pleased to receive the accolade.
“To be recognised as Spain’s top golf resort for the third year running is an amazing achievement and a great honour,” he commented.
“The vote results demonstrate the high regard that La Manga Club continues to be held in by UK golfers. It is a golf and sporting institution that is loved all over Europe and our commitment to excellence is shown by the wealth of facilities that are available for guests to enjoy.”
He added that the previous 12 months have been extremely successful for the resort as it has added an exciting range of new products to its line of holidays.
European Ryder Cup star Luke Donald, South African extraordinaire and European Tour legend Severiano Ballesteros are among those recognisable names who have been known to frequent the complex.
Those tempted to visit La Manga thanks to the glowing testimony of so many UK golfers are advised to travel with adequate insurance, particularly if they’re taking sports equipment over.
