22nd July Is Hammock Day – The Best Places To Hang Up Your HammockThe Best Beach Getaways in the World

Relaxing in a hammock in the sunshine is the perfect antidote to the British weather – so we’ve picked the top destinations for you to do just that.

It’s the dream for many of us – laying back in a hammock on a hot summer’s day. We don’t have many of those back here in the UK – so where should you be hanging up your hammock this summer? In celebration of Hammock Day on 22nd of July, we’ve put together a list of the best beaches in the world – so that you can head to sunnier climates for some much needed ‘me time’.

Slanchev Bryag, or Sunny Beach as we know it, is one of the best beach resorts in Europe. It’s a great alternative to the more mainstream Spanish resorts, and sun worshippers flock to the long, sandy beach in droves. There’s plenty to do while you’re not soaking up the rays though, from taking part in some water sports or exploring the nearby ancient town of Nesebar.

You wouldn’t think that some of the best beaches in the world can be found in Canada, but it’s true! This country has 152,100 miles of coastline – the longest on the planet. Singing Sands Beach is one of the best. It’s named for the strange swishing sound the sand makes when disturbed. This natural phenomenon aside, it’s got some of the warmest waters north of Florida. Other great Canadian beaches include Brady’s Beach and Long Beach.

Experienced travellers will know that India is actually a great destination for beaches – so we’re letting you in on the secret too. Goa is India’s most famous region for beaches. Arambol is a standard tourist beach by day, but at night it’s lit by fairy lights and candles – a truly magical sight. Palolem is another great Goa beach – as is Benaulim. The Kerala coastline is a great alternative to Goa – it’s much less busy. Varkala Beach and Maraki beach are pretty peaceful, and perfect for relaxing.

Last but not least is Australia. It’s no surprise that this is one of the best places in the world for sun, sea and sand. Many of its beaches are often voted the best on the planet. Bondi Beach is the most famous, but there are a few others that deserve just as much attention. For dramatic scenery, Wineglass Bay in Tasmania takes some beating. Noosa Main Beach is a picture-perfect piece of coastline, with white sands and palm trees. Our favourite though, is Whitehaven Beach. The famous ‘silica sand’ coupled with its stunning reef location means that it’s a must-visit.
