Is the country I’m travelling to classed as European or Worldwide?
Country geographic definitions are provided in the Table of Benefits on page 2 of the policy wording and there is also an information link next to the destinations on the quote page.
What is the Excess and Excess Waiver?
The excess is the first part of the claim that you are responsible for and is payable by you – the per section excesses are shown in the Table of Benefits on page 2 of the policy wording. By purchasing the excess waiver option, the excess is reduced to £0 and you would therefore not be responsible for making a payment toward the claim.
Do you cover Repatriation?
Yes, repatriation is included under the Medical Expenses section of the policy. If you need to be repatriated back to the UK please make sure that you contact the 24 hour medical emergency assistance company in advance on +44 (0) 1376 754013 who will authorise this and make the necessary arrangements.
Are pre-existing medical conditions covered?
Yes, we can cover a wide range of pre-existing medical conditions. Please call us on 01376 560800 so that we can provide you with a quotation.
Does an annual policy cover trips within the UK?
Yes, trips within the UK are covered provided you have a minimum of three nights pre-booked accommodation.
Can you travel separately on an annual policy?
Yes, adults travelling on the annual policy may travel independently. Children must travel with at least one insured adult.
Are my personal possessions and baggage covered?
Yes, your personal property is covered up to a maximum of £2,000 (£750 for backpacker policies). Please see Table of Benefits on page 2 of the policy wording for further details.
What should I do if my personal possessions are lost or stolen whilst I'm away?
Make sure that you obtain either a police report within 48 hours of the discovery of the loss or theft, then contact the claims service on your return to the UK. Please see Table of Benefits on page 2 of the policy wording for further information.
What is IPT?
IPT is Insurance Premium Tax. It is a government tax at the rate of 20% and is included in all of our prices.
What happens if I have to cancel my trip due to ill health?
You are covered up to £5,000 (£750 for backpacker policies) for cancellation in the event of illness or injury. Please see Table of Benefits on page 2 of the policy wording for more detail.
Is scuba diving covered?
Yes, cover for scuba diving up to a maximum depth of 30 metres is included in all our policies provided that you are diving with a qualified instructor (or a buddy if qualified).
Do I need to take all my policy documents with me when I travel?
We recommend that you take your policy wording and schedule with you. If this is not possible please make sure you make a note of your policy number and the phone number of the 24 hour medical emergency assistance company.
How many times can I travel on an annual policy?
You can take an unlimited number of trips on an annual policy, with maximum trip duration of 7, 31, 45 or 60 days depending on the premium paid.
Do I need to tell you every time I travel on an annual policy?
No, you do not need to tell us each time you travel.

Can I travel if I am pregnant?
Yes, pregnancy is not a medical condition, so you are able to travel as long as your transport provider (airline/ferry company etc.) is happy to carry you. Please see Table of Benefits on page 2 of the policy wording for more information.
Do you have a maximum age limit?
We can provide cover to individuals up to and including a maximum age of 85 years for single trip policies. Our maximum age for annual policies is 75 years of age. Backpacker policies are available to customers aged 39 years and below.
I am 85 years old but will have my 86th birthday before I go on holiday. Will I still be covered?
Yes, you are still covered as your age at the time of purchasing your policy is considered as your policy age.
What is the maximum trip duration on my annual policy?
Our annual policies offer cover of maximum trip durations of 7, 31, 45 or 60 days. Please refer to your policy schedule for details of which policy you have purchased.
Does my annual policy cover me for skiing?
If you have purchased our annual with winter sports policy, or selected the winter sports option, then you are covered for winter sports up to a maximum of 17 days per policy year.
What is the maximum duration for a single trip policy?
The maximum duration for a single trip policy is 365 days for customers aged up to and including 70 years. For customers aged 71-75 years the maximum duration is 3 months and for customers aged 76-85 it is 31 days.
Is your travel insurance only available to UK resident?
Yes, we can only provide you with cover if you are a resident of the United Kingdom: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. If you are an EU resident please visit our EU Resident Travel insurance page.

Is off piste skiing covered?
Yes, off piste skiing is covered as long as you are under the supervision of a qualified guide or instructor.
Do you have an age restriction for winter sports travel insurance?
We can provide cover for winter sports to customers aged up to and including 70 years for single trip policies and 64 years for annual policies.
